Understanding Jason Bateman
Posted on September 30, 2015
Description:
Produce a show about the movie being made about my life.
Background:
In October of 2014 it was announced that Fox Searchlight acquired the rights to the story of KmikeyM, the world’s first publicly traded person, with Jason Bateman signed on to star and direct.
There hasn't been much news since that announcement. By tracking Jason Bateman’s career I’ve estimated the film will start production in 2016 with a 2018 release date. That’s a long time to wait. What should we do in the meantime?
When the movie is released Jason Bateman will be more famous for playing me than I am. He will play the “character” of K. Mike Merrill, a fictional version of myself. That character will develop the persona of KmikeyM, a fictional reflection of the persona I’ve created. All of this will be presented through a script written by Micah Fitzerman-Blue & Noah Harpster, based on an article by Joshua Davis, and directed and played by Jason Bateman.
Proposal:
Produce a live theatre production exploring the issues of identity and celebrity.
What better way to explore the idea of who a person is than live theatre? We worked with local playwright Noah Dunham to write a treatment (attached PDF). If this proposal passes we’ll continue to develop this draft with Mr. Dunham and create a live-theatre production that will help us all start Understanding Jason Bateman.
*Thanks to Shareholder No. 3 who proposed this idea in the KmikeyM slack channel (email us to join).
