Endorse a Candidate for President

Posted on February 26, 2020

Description:

As the 2020 Presidential Primary Election approaches it is time to return to the business of politics. Ten years ago with 84% approval I registered as a Republican. I never quite figured out how to use this to my advantage but I did attend an event where Reince Priebus spoke to a crowd of angry tea party members and I was excited about the presidential campaign of Jon Huntsman Jr. in the 2012 campaign. After he dropped out of the race I released an endorsement video supporting Barack Obama.

During the early part of the 2016 presidential campaign I hired a team of comedy writers to tweet from my account during the Republican debates. This was when the idea of Trump as president was still ridiculous. As it became less ridiculous and more horrifying I asked the shareholders to allow me to abandon the โ€œrotting organizationโ€ which was granted with 87% approval.

Proposal:

Should I endorse a candidate for the 2020 presidential election?
Candidate selection is happening on weejee.

This is an interesting one... if the weejee vote goes the wrong way it makes sense to flip the vote here. ;P

The negatives of publicly speaking up here would probably outweigh the positives. I basically don't voice any political opinions anymore, to anybody outside my nuclear family. Endorsing any candidate in these polarized times could cause social ostracism. It's not worth it.

yeah, what beau said :)

It does seem like it would make sense to do the weejee after this is resolved

There's a difference between voting and supporting a candidate and publicly endorsing one. No one currently running deserve an endorsement, I don't believe.

What would this endorsement "mean"? What's the positive case for doing it? Is it meant to influence people's votes? Is it meant as an expression of the "shareholders' will"? My lack of clarity on why we're considering this makes it hard to understand why I'd vote in favor of it.

If you care for the future of your country, you should probably vote. I spent 35 years in the military protecting that right. Sadly, too many people vote for free stuff rather than taking to heart what JFK said. "Ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country". There seems to be less pride of accomplishment from those that never earn what they have.

Absolutely not. This has no value, probably negative value to your shareholders. Disregard public social signaling. Think globally.

I voted nay. I really think it is a very bad idea to add politics to this.

Vote? Yes. Endorse a candidate? Nope.

If you endorse Bernie I'm selling. The internal contradictions inherent in that make my head spin.

I'm of the opinion of complete transparency. If someone doesn't want to support me because of my political views, be that a client or otherwise, I don't want their patronage. I have a decent amount of following on IG and I made it clear who I support. If people are following me are undecided on who they should vote for I want them to strongly consider who I'm supporting. Having said all that, I'm all in for Bernie Sanders.

I wish you would go back to the GOP and vote for Trump! Share price has dropped since the flip to the Democratic Party... coincidence?l haha

Itโ€™s become clear over the last few years that, as a society, weโ€™re ready to start expecting more of corporations. Social responsibility is being demanded by consumers and businesses have had to abandon the decades/old practices of separating their business from the social issues of the day. With that said, I think it would be both failing a social responsibility AND negatively affecting public perception to abstain from expressing a position.

Only voting yes as an engine of chaos. Or whatever 10 votes of that is worth. I'm asking you to nominate Ace Watkins, our future Gamer President, on weejee.
